Qualifications

• Must hold a current NCCA Group Fitness Certification (ACE, NETA, or AFAA) and Specialty/Trademarked Certification upon hire.
• Instructor must keep all certifications current and in good standing.
• Outgoing personality with strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
• Willing to work flexible hours to meet member needs and class coverage requirements.
• High school diploma and experience teaching group exercise classes preferred.
• Successful completion of class instruction demo by supervisor or designee on hire.
• CPR/First Aid & AED certification within 30 days of employment.
• All YMCA Central Ohio trainings must be completed by the required date.

Responsibilities

• Designs, prepares, and delivers group fitness class routines meeting safety guidelines.
• Instructs a minimum of two classes per week and ensures 60% attendance target.
• Maintains equipment and keeps group exercise area clean and safe.
• Builds authentic relationships with members and supports them in achieving wellness goals.
• Records class attendance accurately and arranges substitutes when needed.
• Engages in community outreach and communicates class information as directed by supervisor.
• Responds to emergencies in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
