General Function

The Apprentice Optician creates value by delivering the LensCrafters Experience, ensuring customer delight through our selling model.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

1. Convey commitment to excellent customer service by greeting customers, explaining processes, assisting with merchandise selection, fitting, solving visual problems, and dispensing eyewear.
2. Serve as a center of excellence, focusing on right the first time and modeling our service and selling standards.
3. Assist customers in selecting frames and lenses suited to their needs, and help resolve complex product or prescription issues.
4. Anticipate and address potential problems, explore underlying causes, and develop long-term solutions.
5. Show patience and courtesy, educate customers on warranties and services, and record measurements accurately.
6. Ensure eyewear meets optical standards and customer requests, and strive for exceptional results in store assessments.
7. Take ownership of personal and store results, serve as a role model, and operate POS systems with accuracy.
8. Inform customers about processing times and store pickup procedures.
9. Maintain store appearance according to planograms and ensure a safe work environment, including lab safety practices.

Basic Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Part of a sanctioned Apprentice Program
• Strong customer service, communication, and team skills
• Knowledge of optical theory, merchandise, and basic math
• Awareness of fashion trends and familiarity with POS and computers
• Open to embracing new technology and change

Preferred Qualifications

• Studying for LensCrafters Quality, Fitting and Adjusting Program
• Optical dispensing experience
• Previous retail and customer service experience
