Job summary

Woodgrain seeks reliable production workers to support skilled operators in the plant. You will assist in daily manufacturing tasks for lumber, moulding and related products, with focus on safety and quality, and you will follow established procedures.

Work hours are Monday–Friday 6:30 am to 3:00 pm with occasional Saturdays. Typical duties include loading materials, inspecting output, and helping with equipment, upkeep, and recordkeeping as required.

Qualifications

  • Must have Transportation.
  • Prefer Licensed Driver.
  • Prefer HS Diploma/GED but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist machine operators in the production process.
  • Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards.
  • Observe equipment operations to detect malfunctions and notify operators.
  • Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items.
  • Count finished products to determine if orders are complete.
  • Mark or tag identification on parts.
  • Load and unload items from machines and conveyors.
  • Help production workers by supplying or holding materials or tools and cleaning work areas.
  • Clean and lubricate equipment.
  • Record information such as product test counts and dates of production.

Employment Type: Hourly Full Time

Purpose: To assist the skilled operator in established methods and procedures in the production of the products of this plant which consist of lumber, blocks, blanks moulding and/or animal bedding.

  • Assist machine operators in the production process,
  • Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards.
  • Observe equipment operations so that malfunctions can be detected, and notify operators of any malfunctions.
  • Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items, manually or using hoists.
  • Count finished products to determine if product orders are complete.
  • Mark or tag identification on parts.
  • Load and unload items from machines, conveyors, and conveyances.
  • Help production workers by performing duties of lesser skill, such as supplying or holding materials or tools, or cleaning work areas and equipment.
  • Clean and lubricate equipment.
  • Record information, such as the number of products tested, meter readings, or dates and times of product production.
  • The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • Job requires being reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfilling obligations
  • Safety (strictly enforced). Mandatory attendance of all assigned safety training and adherence to all safety policies and practices
Knowledge/Skills/Education and Continuous Training:
  • Must have Transportation
  • Prefer Licensed Driver
  • Prefer HS Diploma/GED but not required.
  • Production experience is a plus
Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical manufacturing environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds and is regularly exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and extreme hot and cold temperatures.
