Job summary

The Maine Legislature's Office of the Revisor of Statutes is seeking Legal Proofreader/Editors for Augusta, on-site year-round and during legislative sessions.

Responsibilities include proofreading and editing diverse legislative documents, reading aloud in teams, and maintaining confidentiality while delivering accurate work under pressure. A BA in English or related field and strong interpersonal skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English or closely related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to edit and proofread aloud in teams; strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Accuracy and attention to detail are essential.

Responsibilities

• Editing and proofreading in a team environment; reviewing legislative documents for spelling, grammar, form, consistency and clarity.
• Assisting with other office duties as assigned; extensive seasonal overtime and scheduling flexibility.
