Qualifications

Description

SAIC has an immediate opening for a Legislative Policy Analyst supporting the Headquarters Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategic Deterrence and Nuclear Integration, Action Group (AF/A10 A). Work will be performed onsite in the Arlington, VA area (Pentagon).

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide analysis of legislative actions affecting AF/A10’s mission areas which include arms control activities, international sovereignty, national security policy, nuclear enterprise operations, acquisition, and C-WMD.
  • Provide a weekly legislative review/update on existing perspectives in Congress and a schedule of upcoming events concerning current nuclear enterprise, arms control, C-WMD, and national security issues.
  • Research, compile, track, and maintain AF statements/postures connected to any/all AF/A10 mission area and responses to Congressional inquiry.
  • As requested, provide coverage of legislative processes to include hearings, committees, GAO Audits/reports, marks, committee markup activities, floor consideration, conference committee events and issues of interest.
  • Provide synopses of Congressional hearings of interest to AF/A10 and synthesize data into timely, value-added reports and/or briefings.
  • Track and analyze Congressional authorization and appropriation actions related to and affecting AF/A10 and DAF nuclear portfolio programs and activities.
  • Support the Action Group with reviewing and completing Task Management Tool (TMT) and workflow taskers.
  • Draft and coordinate staff packages for review and approval.
  • Develop briefings and presentations for senior Air Force leadership.
  • Coordinate meetings and provide read-ahead packages as necessary.

Qualifications

Required Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree and six or more years of related experience or Master’s Degree and four years of related experience.

Required Experience/Skills:

  • Knowledge of the organization and functions of the Department of Defense.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • Proficiency with MS Office products.
  • Active Secret with ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.

Desired Skills:

  • Background and knowledge in deterrence theory, nuclear strategy, arms control, geopolitics, and key military challenges facing the United States.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across the Air Staff and throughout multiple organizations of the Department of Defense.
