Job summary

State of Oklahoma is seeking an Assistant Fiscal Counsel in the Fiscal Division to assist all 101 House Members with legal and fiscal analyses for legislative projects and budget-related legislation.

The role coordinates and drafts fiscal analyses, develops budget-related legislation, and supports budget negotiations with the Senate and Executive Branch, under direction from the Chief Counsel and Fiscal Director.

Qualifications

  • Must be an active member or be on-pace to become an active member of the Oklahoma Bar Association.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal and fiscal analyses and research for legislators as requested.
  • Draft legislation related to the state budget, revenue, and finance; staff legislative committee hearings.
  • Assist House Members in negotiations with Senate and Executive Branch counterparts, concerning budget estimates and legislation.
  • Assist policymakers in the assessment, development, and implementation of fiscal policy goals.
  • Coordinate meetings with staff counterparts in the State Senate and Executive Branch.
  • Document information exchanges between the Legislature and state agencies related to reporting requirements.
  • Identify and understand the legal implications of federal and tribal policy as they relate to Oklahoma's budgetary and revenue policies.
