Job summary

The Oklahoma Tax Commission is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to provide legal counsel on policy, litigation, contract negotiation and legislative monitoring. This role involves analyzing complex issues, drafting legal documents, and advising agency leadership.

Telework may be required, with on-site work as needed. Under supervision, you will prepare and litigate cases of varying complexity, with opportunities to handle more challenging matters, and you will mentor staff and support

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in Oklahoma.
• Active member of the State Bar of Oklahoma.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes factual and legal issues; conducts legal research.
• Represents the agency in hearings and administrative proceedings.
• Drafts briefs, motions, orders, and other legal documents.
• Advises on policy, procedure and regulations for the agency.
• Prepares and presents appeals to higher courts.
• Mentors staff and oversees projects within an assigned area.
