Job summary

New York State Assembly in Albany seeks a Legislative Budget Analyst to analyze Governor's proposed budget, draft legislation, and present bills at committee meetings. You will engage in budget negotiations, develop policy programs, and perform oversight to support Members of the Assembly.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree with a Master's preferred and legislative experience is desirable. Regular full-time schedule with standard hours applies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• Legislative experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyses and prepares recommendations concerning Governor's proposed budget.
• Participates in the negotiation and preparation of budget bill copy and memorandum for consideration by the Members of the Assembly.
• Drafts, develops and analyzes legislation in the appropriate substantive areas.
• Orally presents bills at Committee meetings and answers questions posed by Committee members regarding legislation.
• Develops policies and programs, and performs oversight functions.
• Represents Committee at meetings, conferences and at public forums.
