  • Generates lobbyist and client bill reports and tracks coverage during session months.
  • Prepares summaries of committee debate and action for distribution.
  • Assists with other Government Law & Policy activities and special projects.

Greenberg Traurig (GT), a global law firm, has a temporary employment opportunity for two Legislative Assistants in the Government Law & Policy practice group of our Tallahassee office.

Position Summary:

The Legislative Assistant will support the Government Law & Policy department and provide a wide range of administrative, secretarial, and document processing services. Candidate should also be flexible to work overtime as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitors legislative committee meetings and writes committee summaries
  • Tracks legislation including: sending out newly-filed bills and e-filing them into the office’s bill tracking system, i.e., Lobbytools.
  • Monitors the release of and disseminates legislative committee information
  • Assists in maintaining legislative calendars for lobbyists
  • Completes lobbyist registration forms
  • Generates lobbyist and client bill reports
  • Monitors coverage of the Florida House and Senate during the session months, and other legislative-related duties
  • Prepares a summary of committee debate and action suitable for dissemination
  • Assists with other Government Law & Policy activities/special projects as needed, and performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications: Skills & Competencies
  • High attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively
  • Work efficiently with the ability to multi-task and set priorities while maintaining and delivering the highest quality work product accurately and timely
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), professional demeanor and presentation
  • Position also requires the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines, effectively prioritize multiple tasks
Education & Prior Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is preferred
  • Previous legislative experience preferred
Technology
  • Working knowledge of Lobbytools
  • Proficiency with Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Exceptional computer skills with the ability to learn new software applications quickly
  • Understanding of AI capabilities, limitations, and responsible use in a professional environment. Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, firm-approved AI tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar platforms) to support daily workflow and/or improve work quality.
Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to move from workstation or desk throughout the work area to work independently or with a team to meet with colleagues or supervisor and retrieve work assignments. This position may also be sedentary and require the employee to sit for extended periods of time. Requires manual dexterity to use a phone, enter data into a computer, handle objects, and use office equipment.
