Job summary

The Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) in Olympia, Washington, seeks a Senior Staff Attorney to serve as the Legislative Resource and Analysis Coordinator, coordinating internal legislative bill-review processes and providing in-depth legal analysis.

You will support governance bodies including the Board for Judicial Administration and executive leadership, lead cross-divisional reviews, and manage vendor contracts for a legislative tracking system.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and active WA State Bar membership.
• Six (6) years of experience as a practicing attorney or in similar legal work.
• Strong legal analysis, research and writing skills with clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate internal legislative bill-review processes and lead cross-divisional meetings.
• Lead the Legislative Screening Team reviewing bills for impacts on courts and the branch.
• Assign bill reviews, track completion, and ensure timeliness and quality.
• Provide expert legal analysis of proposed legislation, including conflicts and fiscal impacts.
• Prepare summaries, analyses, and briefing materials for leadership and committees.
• Manage contract with a legislative tracking system vendor and provide user support.
