Job summary

Cook County State's Attorney Office seeks a Legislative Analyst Attorney to research, draft, and analyze the legal and operational impact of proposed legislation affecting CCSAO operations.

The role coordinates the Legislative Advisory Council, reviews legislation, tracks feedback, and collaborates with Bureau Chiefs and CCSAO staff to draft statutory language. Travel to Springfield for hearings may be required.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and Illinois license required.
• 7–10 years of combined criminal and civil law experience.
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical abilities.
• Ability to travel to Springfield for hearings when needed.

Responsibilities

• Research, draft, review, and analyze the legal/operational impact of proposed legislation for CCSAO.
• Coordinate Legislative Advisory Council (LAC) and disseminate proposed legislation for review.
• Track feedback and follow up as legislation is amended or modified.
• Draft new or amended statutory language to address legislative needs.
