Mercor seeks a Legal Technology Expert to design and refine task-based benchmarks for frontier AI in a remote setup. You will craft digital workspaces around DR drive workflows, integrate e-discovery plans and CLM workstreams, and collaborate with top legal-ops and tech teams to ensure realism and rigor.

You should bring 3+ years in legal operations or technology, strong analytical and writing skills, and hands-on experience with Relativity, Icertis, HotDocs/Contract Express, and Clio/MyCase.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of full-time experience in legal operations or legal technology at a top law firm, in-house legal department, or major legal-tech vendor.
• Background in legal operations, process improvement, and legal-spend management.
• Experience with e-discovery and review workflows.
• Knowledge of contract lifecycle management and matter management.
• Familiarity with legal intake, knowledge management, and enterprise-wide legal program design.
• Proficiency with Relativity, Icertis, HotDocs/Contract Express, and Clio/MyCase.
• Strong analytical thinking and writing skills.

• Design multi-step tasks based on real workflows and navigate multiple apps, files, and stakeholders.

• Work asynchronously with research teams to refine task designs and evaluation criteria for benchmarks.
• Contribute to frontier AI research by informing how labs train and evaluate AI systems.

Position: Legal Technology Expert Type: Contract Compensation: $1,750–$2,150 per completed task Location: Remote

Role Responsibilities

• Build a realistic digital workspace centered on the Drive folders you use daily. Include process maps , intake forms , matter-management reports , CLM rollouts , e-discovery plans , vendor-evaluation decks , and email threads .
• Design multi-step tasks based on real workflows. Navigate multiple apps , files , and stakeholders to challenge frontier AI agents .
• Collaborate with other legal-operations and legal-tech experts to design the environment, shape task scope, and review scenarios for realism and rigor.
• Work asynchronously with research teams to refine task designs and evaluation criteria for legal-tech agent benchmarks.
• Contribute to frontier AI research and benchmarking. Your work directly informs how leading labs train and evaluate the next generation of AI systems .

Qualifications Must-Have

• 3+ years of full-time experience in legal operations or legal technology at an AmLaw 100 firm, Fortune 500 in-house legal department, or major legal-tech vendor .
• Background in legal operations, process improvement, and legal-spend management.
• Experience with e-discovery and review workflows.
• Knowledge of contract lifecycle management and matter management.
• Familiarity with legal intake, knowledge management, and enterprise-wide legal program design.
• Day-to-day use of Relativity , Icertis , HotDocs / Contract Express , and Clio / MyCase .
• Strong analytical thinking and writing skills.

Preferred

• CLOC / ACC Legal Ops involvement.

Compensation & Legal

• Task Completion Pay: Competitive and based on task quality (~ $1,750 – $2,150 per completed task, subject to change as the project evolves).
• Performance Bonus: Top performers receive a weekly bonus incentive on top of their per task rate.
• Hourly Opportunity: Top performers may transition to an hourly compensation model based on sustained quality and throughput.
