Qualifications

  • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to learn legal terminology, codes, forms, documents, and the chronology of legal actions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with the public, attorneys and law enforcement.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as clerical support to attorneys and County staff; schedule appointments, screen callers, respond to routine correspondence.
  • Maintain files of correspondence and legal documents; file papers with courts; enter hearing records and case dispositions.
  • Prepare case files and maintain case status records; post court actions and dates to calendars.
  • Review and route calls; obtain information to ensure compliance with legal requirements; contact judges, attorneys, court clerks and other agencies as needed.
  • Perform general office duties; utilize computer systems; interpret legal information for the public and staff.
