Job summary

Riverside County District Attorney's Office seeks Deputy District Attorneys at the II, III and IV levels to support the Special Prosecutions Unit. Incumbents will travel throughout Riverside County and handle criminal cases in organized retail theft or consumer fraud, along with civil consumer fraud prosecutions.

Competitive candidates will have expert legal knowledge, analytical and courtroom litigation skills, and strong research and writing abilities to prepare prosecutions.

Qualifications

  • Active membership in the State Bar of California.
  • License/Certificate: California State Bar.
  • Driver's License: Valid California license.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate, research, and prepare all types of cases for prosecution; present and prosecute cases before all courts in the State.
  • Interview and advise law enforcement and the public regarding criminal complaints; act as a senior deputy in branch Municipal Courts; negotiate charges with defense.
  • Perform legal research and apply statutes, ordinances, and case law.
  • Assist in training and supervising other deputies.
  • Act for higher level deputies in their absence; dictate correspondence and prepare reports.
  • Coordinate the work of support personnel.

Job description

The Riverside County District Attorney's Office seeks Deputy District Attorneys at the II, III and IV levels to support the Special Prosecutions Unit. Incumbents will be required to travel throughout Riverside County on a regular basis. Incumbents will be responsible for criminal cases in organized retail theft OR criminal consumer fraud cases and civil consumer fraud prosecutions; and perform other related duties as required. Competitive candidates will have expert legal knowledge, analytical, and courtroom litigation skills with talents for research and writing to prepare prosecutions for various types of criminal and civil cases. Significant experience in related special litigation, including but not limited to criminal jury trials, grand jury work, statewide civil litigation, State Bar or judicial council investigation/litigation are highly desired.

  • Deputy District Attorney II: $48.79 - $66.99 Hourly

DEPUTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY II
Option I

Experience: One year of experience at the Deputy District Attorney I level with the District Attorney's office of Riverside County. (Certification of qualifications by the District Attorney may be substituted for up to six months of the required experience.)

Option II

Experience: One year of experience in the practice of law.

DEPUTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY III
Option I

Experience: One year of experience as a Deputy District Attorney II in Riverside County or in an equivalent class with another government agency.

Option II

Experience: Two years of experience in the practice of criminal law.

Option III

Experience: Three years of experience in the practice of law.

DEPUTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY IV

Experience: One year of experience as a Deputy District Attorney III in Riverside County, or in an equivalent class in the office of another prosecuting attorney in California.

Other Requirements for All Levels

License/Certificate: Active membership in the State Bar of California.

Driver's License: Possession of a valid California Driver's License is required.

Background Check: Must be able to pass an extensive background check.
