Job summary

HeplerBroom is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support medical malpractice litigation teams in Chicago, IL. The role offers base pay with bonus opportunities, a friendly, flexible work environment, and comprehensive benefits.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years as a legal secretary or in defense litigation, strong organizational skills, and proficiency with MS Office. Responsibilities include drafting and finalizing pleadings, filings, and discovery, and coordinating with witnesses

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of legal secretary experience in medical malpractice or defense litigation preferred.
  • Prior experience with litigation processes is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new technologies quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and finalizing correspondence, reports, discovery, and pleadings
  • Understanding the facts and backgrounds of each case
  • Electronic court filings
  • Tracking discovery and document production in written and expert discovery
  • Communicating with witnesses and experts and scheduling meetings and depositions
  • Reviewing client guidelines for billing purposes
  • Formatting general and reviewing pleadings, discovery, reports, and correspondence
  • Scanning, filing, and copying
  • Scheduling depositions and making travel arrangements

Salary Range: $60,000.00 To $75,000.00 Annually
