Job description

The Performance Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day performance of a portfolio of outside law firms. The role is roughly 50% planned work and 50% responding to issues, escalations, and changing priorities as they arise, so we need someone who is highly adaptable, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment.

This person will use scorecards, KPIs, and account-level data to identify performance trends, uncover issues, and drive improvement across assigned firms. They will also serve as a primary point of contact for legal partners, holding firms accountable to performance expectations while maintaining strong, collaborative relationships.

Ideal background / skill set:

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret performance data and turn it into actionable recommendations
• Strong Excel skills and comfort working with reporting and KPIs
• Experience managing external partners, vendors, law firms, or other business relationships
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
• Legal collections, debt collection, financial services, or related industry experience is a plus

We are looking for someone who is solutions-oriented, resourceful, and highly proactive. When they identify a problem, they should naturally think through what people, resources, or actions are needed to resolve it rather than simply escalating the issue. They should be comfortable holding external partners accountable, having difficult performance conversations, and developing improvement plans when results are not meeting expectations. At the same time, they need to build strong relationships with attorneys, firm leadership, clients, and internal teams. The strongest candidate will also be adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity, able to reprioritize quickly, follow through on issues outside of their direct control, and continuously look for ways to improve performance, processes, and outcomes.
