Job summary

Campaign Legal Center (CLC) seeks a legal intern in Washington, DC for the 2027 cycle. Interns work across CLC’s issue areas, including campaign finance, ethics, and voting rights, under senior attorney supervision and mentorship.

The role emphasizes research and writing, factual investigations, and drafting regulatory language. Availability of ten weeks in summer 2027 is required for summer internships.

Qualifications

• Must be a current 1L or 2L at an accredited law school.
• Strong research and writing skills.
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Commitment to the nonpartisan nature and mission of CLC.
• For summer internships: Availability for at least ten weeks in the summer of 2027.
• For semester internships: Availability for at least ten hours per week during the term of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Draft legal pleadings, motions or briefs
• Research and write memoranda on complex legal issues for pending and potential litigation
• Conduct factual investigations
• Draft regulatory or statutory language
• Draft complaints to regulatory agencies
• Write advocacy letters, FOIA requests, blog posts, testimony, and other programmatic documents
