Job summary

The American Bar Association in Washington, DC invites law students to join a paid summer internship from June 7, 2027 to August 13, 2027. The role offers exposure across ABA divisions, mentorship from leaders, and substantial work on intellectual property, contracts, and regulatory matters.

You must be enrolled in an accredited JD program and plan to return to law school for Fall 2027. The internship is full-time (37.5 hours/week) with onsite work required at least two days per week, and

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited JD program and plan to return to law school in Fall 2027.
• Summer 2027 internship eligibility required.
• Based in Washington, DC with onsite requirement of at least two days per week.

Responsibilities

• Provide intellectual property support by preparing trademark and copyright applications and reviewing licenses.
• Review ABA contractual documents including small-dollar contracts, statements of work, MSAs and NDAs.
• Conduct legal research for The Docket and monthly regulatory updates.
• Draft policies and supporting documents for policy development.
• Monitor state legislation and assist staff in legislative monitoring efforts.
• Prepare briefing materials, charts and white papers as needed.
