Cboe Global Markets is offering a Legal internship in our U.S. Legal team. You will work with attorneys on day-to-day tasks, including regulatory aspects, drafting, and governance.

The internship emphasizes learning through practical projects and our Options Institute courses. You must be enrolled in a J.D. program and can expect a structured six-week to ten-week experience with exposure to multiple departments and state-of-the-art Chicago offices.

• Prepare and submit documents to regulators (SEC, CFTC) and exchange filings.
• Conduct legal research on equities, options, futures, digital assets, and related regulation.

The Legal team is hiring for a Legal intern.

The U.S. Legal team supports various Cboe business lines with their existing and new exchange-traded products and services and provides various other corporate legal support services. As a regulated entity, Cboe operates in a highly regulated environment and compliance by Cboe with its legal and regulatory obligations is paramount in the conduct of its business. The Legal intern program is designed to engage you in day-to-day activities and projects contributing towards our Legal team and corporate goals.

Your responsibilities and learning objectives will be:

• Assist and provide support to Cboe attorneys with all facets of their daily responsibilities, including responsibilities related to various financial products regulation (such as securities, options, and futures) contract drafting, licensing, and general corporate governance matters.
• Assist in the preparation and submission of documents, such as proposed changes to exchange rules and other filings, to the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and other regulators.
• Conduct legal research on issues related to equities, options, futures, digital assets, and foreign exchange regulation, market structure, trading, foreign jurisdiction access, among other issues.

The ideal candidate has:

• Must be currently enrolled in a J.D. program and have at least one year of law school at an accredited institution and should not be scheduled to graduate before December of the internship year.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical and research skills
• Highly organized and detail oriented
• Possess sound professional judgment
• Intuitive and practical understanding of and experience with requirements relating to confidential documents and information
• Must be a self-starter and a strong team player

Candidates should be versatile, eager and able to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive financial and technical environment. Our interns will be working 5 days in office per week at one of our state-of-the-art offices in Chicago, Kansas City, and New York City. To be eligible for this internship, applicants must be enrolled in a university or college program and should not be scheduled to graduate before December of the internship year. Our internship program runs from June to August and you will wrap up your internship with a final presentation and retreat.
