Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Senior Payments Counsel to advise cross-functional teams from ideation to launch and ongoing operation. You will translate regulatory requirements into actionable product guidance and develop pragmatic legal solutions to enable innovation while controlling risk.

In this role, you will deepen expertise across payment ecosystems, collaborate with Product, Engineering, Compliance, Risk, Privacy, Operations, and Legal teams worldwide, and advise on payments at a global scale

Qualifications

J.D. from an accredited law school.
Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
10+ years of relevant legal experience.
Significant payments counseling experience with fintechs, financial services, and/or technology companies.
Experience partnering directly with Product and Engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
Deep knowledge of the payments ecosystem and applicable legal and regulatory frameworks.
Familiarity with money transmission, electronic funds transfers, consumer protection, card network rules, bank payments, financial crime, sanctions requirements, and related laws and industry rules.
Ability to understand product requirements, user journeys, technical systems, and funds flows.
Excellent judgment in novel legal questions.
Practical, solutions-oriented mindset.
Ability to communicate complex legal concepts plainly.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate with autonomy.
Ability to work comfortably with ambiguity and a bias for action.
