Job description

An excellent opportunity for a commercially minded mid level lawyer who enjoys autonomy, variety and being close to the business.

We're working with a well established business operating in the financial services and technology sector to recruit a Legal Counsel for its Dallas office.

This is a broad, hands‑on in-house role offering the opportunity to work closely with business stakeholders, provide practical commercial advice and take ownership of a range of legal, compliance and regulatory matters.

You'll be joining a collaborative, commercially focused environment where you'll have the autonomy to manage day‑to‑day legal issues, while having access to experienced senior legal support when needed.

The role:

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements, including customer and supplier contracts.
  • Providing practical, commercially focused legal advice to business stakeholders.
  • Advising on regulatory and compliance matters relevant to financial services and technology.
  • Supporting the business in managing contractual and regulatory obligations.
  • Identifying legal and commercial risks and working with stakeholders to develop practical solutions.
  • Managing competing priorities and taking ownership of matters from start to finish.
About you

Ideally, you'll have around 5–8 years’ experience as a US-qualified lawyer.

You'll bring strong commercial legal skills, sound judgement and the confidence to work reasonably autonomously. Experience in financial services, payments, fintech or technology would be particularly attractive, especially where you've had exposure to regulatory and compliance matters.

Just as importantly, you'll be someone who enjoys working with the business, is comfortable making decisions and can balance legal risk with commercial objectives. We’re open to lawyers currently working in-house as well as those in private practice looking to make the move.

Why consider this role?

This is an opportunity to take on a varied and genuinely hands‑on legal position, with exposure to a broad range of commercial and regulatory issues. You'll enjoy a good degree of independence, direct engagement with business stakeholders and the support of experienced legal professionals.
