Role Overview :

The Legal Counsel will be a member of LBCM’s North America and wider LBCM Legal team, and report to the Chief Legal Officer, North America. The Legal Counsel will hold responsibility for all aspects of legal support and advice in relation to a broad suite of trading documentation including ISDAs, CSAs, GMRAs, GMSLAs and CDEAs in support of the Financial Markets business in the United States with a focus on institutional investors. This opportunity will require the provision of specialist and insightful legal, transaction and regulatory advice and support on all matters relating to Financial Markets matters, including engagement with other internal legal teams and leading any critical issues. There will be close working and informal supervisory connections from the markets legal team in the UK.

In addition, it will be vital to provide ad hoc support to other business areas in both the US and UK where there is strategic alignment with the business as well as on other legal matters falling within the remit of the LBCM North America Legal team. Any candidate will need to demonstrate a passion for growing their understanding of other products and areas of legal-focused support.

The position would support the Group’s activities in the U.S., which are carried out by LBCM plc, which is licensed by the NY Department of Financial Services and requires expertise gained from premier experience at a major law firm and / or bank.

The right candidate will be required to act as a source of professional expertise and be a subject matter expert regarding the negotiation of derivative and repo master agreements directly with institutional and corporate clients and provide legal advice and guidance to the business regarding derivatives, foreign exchange, secondary securities products and associated regulations.

Crucial to the role will be ensuring all documentation completed and advice given meets the Banks policy, risk and regulatory requirements and handling external advisers for the best value and service provision.

The role offers varied opportunities for an attorney to improve their specialist knowledge while building skills across a broad range of areas.
