Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school required.
• Active state bar membership with NJ in-house eligibility.
• 5+ years of legal experience in finance or lending industries.
• Experience with equipment finance, commercial leasing, or lending.
• Strong knowledge of financial services laws and regs.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements across the business.
• Advise teams on new products, initiatives, and operations.
• Support governance, licensing, regulatory, and transactional matters.
• Advise on federal and state requirements impacting lending.
• Collaborate with regulators and handle licensing and inquiries.
• Support litigation, subpoenas, discovery, and outside counsel mgmt.

A leading, global commercial lending organization is looking to add an experienced Legal Counsel to its growing legal team. This is a highly visible role reporting directly to senior legal leadership and partnering closely with business and executive stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements across the business
• Advise teams on new products, business initiatives, and day-to-day operational matters
• Support corporate governance, licensing, regulatory, and transactional matters
• Advise on federal and state requirements impacting commercial lending and equipment finance
• Work closely with regulators and assist with licensing, renewals, and regulatory inquiries
• Support litigation, subpoenas, discovery, and outside counsel management

Ideal Background:

• J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school
• Active state bar membership with eligibility for NJ in-house counsel registration
• 5+ years of legal experience
• Significant experience within equipment finance, commercial leasing, or lending
• Strong understanding of applicable financial services laws and regulations
• Comfortable working directly with senior executives and business leaders
• Strong drafting, negotiation, communication, and organizational skills
