Overview:
J&Y Law is expanding its legal services with the development of a dedicated Elder Abuse Practice Group, and we are seeking an experienced Legal Consultant to advise us during this critical launch phase. This is a strategic role for a seasoned professional passionate about protecting the rights of elders and vulnerable adults.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert insight on establishing a new elder abuse litigation department
- Review and enhance workflows, intake protocols, and litigation strategy
- Recommend best practices for compliance, documentation, and client communications
- Guide team structure, staffing, and process design
- Ensure alignment with California elder abuse statutes and relevant legal standards
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in elder abuse, long-term care, or personal injury litigation
- Deep understanding of California elder law and regulatory issues
- Prior experience launching or consulting on legal practice development is preferred
- Strong communication and advisory skills
Desired Experience:
- Experience handling elder abuse claims involving skilled nursing facilities, assisted living, or in-home care
- Proven track record in litigating cases under the Elder Abuse and Dependent Adult Civil Protection Act (EADACPA)
- Familiarity with investigating care standard violations, pressure injuries, falls, neglect, and medication errors
- Knowledge of relevant medical record review processes and working with elder care expert witnesses
- Background in training or mentoring legal teams on elder abuse case handling
- Experience implementing intake and litigation workflows specific to vulnerable adult populations
- History of advising or building high-performing elder abuse litigation teams in a firm setting
