Job summary

Barnes & Thornburg is seeking a Collections Specialist to review aged accounts receivable, analyze history and determine collection strategies to ensure timely payments. You will contact clients, update the collections system, and prepare reports for management.

Ideal candidates have 3-5 years in financial roles, strong Excel and MS Office skills, and clear communication abilities to work with attorneys and clients in a professional services environment.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of financial experience in a professional services organization; law firm experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of credit practices and strong collection techniques.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Interact professionally with clients and billing attorneys to facilitate timely payments and identify challenges.
• Review aged accounts and determine appropriate collection approaches.
• Contact clients via phone, email, and formal letters per policies; document activities in the collection system.
• Enter and maintain accurate information in the firm’s collections software; schedule follow-ups.
