Job summary

ExecuSource is recruiting on behalf of a national defense litigation law firm in Atlanta, hybrid work arrangement. The Cash Application Supervisor will oversee cash posting, reconciliations, and client accounts, partnering with attorneys and billing teams to ensure accuracy.

The role emphasizes process ownership, controls, and efficiency rather than people management, requiring advanced Excel and experience with Aderant or similar systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in cash application, accounts receivable, legal billing, or related accounting functions.
• Previous experience working in a law firm environment required.
• Strong understanding of legal billing, payment application, client accounts, and reconciliation processes.
• Demonstrated experience overseeing accounting processes, researching complex discrepancies, and improving workflows.
• Experience supporting attorney portfolios or professional services billing preferred.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite and Aderant software.
• Experience with legal accounting or billing software preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee cash application processes to ensure timely and accurate posting of client payments to invoices.
• Research and resolve complex unapplied cash items, payment discrepancies, and account variances.
• Review payment details to ensure proper allocation across client matters, invoices, and attorney portfolios.
• Monitor accounts receivable activity and maintain accurate client balances.
• Perform and review account reconciliations to identify discrepancies and ensure resolution.
• Establish procedures for documenting payment activity and maintaining financial records.
• Collaborate with attorneys, billing specialists, and clients to resolve billing and payment discrepancies.
• Review client accounts to verify invoice accuracy, payments, credits, and balances.
• Investigate complex inquiries and coordinate timely resolutions with appropriate departments.
• Support collection activities by providing accurate payment histories and AR information.
• Ensure payment procedures align with firm policies and legal billing requirements.
• Evaluate workflows, develop SOPs, implement controls, and drive continuous improvement.
• Prepare cash application and AR reports; support month-end close and audit readiness.
