Job summary

Consilio LLC is seeking a skilled professional to lead comprehensive legal bill review of invoices submitted by outside counsel under AFA and hourly arrangements. You will verify accuracy, compliance with guidelines, and the reasonableness of charges.

You will collaborate with legal, finance, and procurement teams, provide training to law firms, and use e-billing platforms such as TyMetrix, CounselLink, Serengeti, and Legal Tracker to analyze spend and drive cost savings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; JD or paralegal certification a plus.
• 5-10 years in legal auditing or legal bill review, legal operations, law firm billing, or legal spend management.
• Experience with outside counsel billing guidelines and engagement terms.
• Familiarity with e-billing platforms and legal billing software.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work with legal and non-legal professionals.

Responsibilities

• Monitor adherence to billing guidelines, including time entry descriptions, billing rates, staffing models, and expense charges.
• Identify billing discrepancies, unauthorized charges, excessive time entries, and non-compliant practices; communicate findings with stakeholders and law firms.
• Collaborate with legal, finance, and procurement teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and cost control of legal services.
• Provide feedback and training to law firms on billing expectations and compliance issues.
• Maintain and update billing guidelines and enforce through contracts and engagement letters.
• Leverage e-billing platforms (TyMetrix, CounselLink, Serengeti, Legal Tracker) to facilitate invoice workflow, reporting, and analysis.
• Track and report key metrics related to legal spend, savings opportunities, and billing compliance.
• Assist in developing internal policies and procedures to streamline the legal bill review process and improve cost efficiency.
