Job Purpose
Assist and provide support to lawyers with various tasks including conducting legal research, drafting and reviewing documents, communicating with clients, preparing for hearings, trials, and meetings, and organizing and maintaining files.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, prepare and maintain legal files; prepare Division forms and stipulations; prepare and deliver to attorneys outside and inside mail daily; forward legal mail to MEM claims staff daily; re-file files daily.
- Maintain calendar for all dockets and other legal appointments for attorneys; anticipate and bring scheduling conflicts to attorney’s attention.
- Assemble data and prepare Monthly Production Report.
- Provide general administrative assistance, such as maintaining the attorney's calendar and making travel arrangements.
- Enter accumulated data into appropriate computer system and ensure accuracy of data in reports or lists. Verify information in Form 21s relative to Report of Injury and annotate discrepancies for attorneys.
- Ensure regulatory compliance by producing comprehensive regulatory reports, reviewing and consolidating information to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Draft and review correspondence.
- Communicate with clients, claims representatives, and witnesses to schedule meetings, interviews, and depositions.
- Develop and maintain procedural or technical skills through participation in assessment, development planning activities, and training.
- Assist with preparation for hearings, trials, and meetings. Support management and resolution of billing issues with outside counsel.
- Provide high-level assistance to the CompLegal attorneys supporting financial and strategic planning, administrative projects, and reports.
- Analyze, assemble, and compile narrative and statistical information related to CompLegal operations, including preparing monthly production reports.
Experience
2-5 years of experience as an administrative assistant (preferably in a law office), legal support, or equivalent.
