Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience: Two (2) years of experience in legal or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s degree in business, office management, secretarial sciences, or a related legal field
- Experience: Experience with database and document management systems; experience in general litigation and legal processes; advanced experience in Microsoft Office and Adobe
Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide a wide range of support to the WVUHS litigation team
- Serve as key point of contact and manage calendar and travel for assistant litigation counsel
- Communicate timely and professionally with internal WVUHS departments regarding legal matters
- Prepare documents for signature and coordinate execution, mailing, or electronic filing of legal documents
- Monitor and maintain management information for the WVUH Legal Services Department
- Maintain departmental filing systems and ensure accurate, timely access to information
- Complete various projects related to organization of documents, filing systems, and management of litigation matters
- Create and organize reference tools for easy use by the office
- Circulate copies of litigation documents to team members and stakeholders as appropriate
- Support the WVUH Legal Services Department in all matters, including support of other counsel and staff within the Department
- Train other personnel in litigation databases as directed
- Organize and track files for important case documents, including pleadings and discovery documents; manage files in electronic case management databases
- Assist with review of discovery materials and other court filings
- Search legal records collected in computer databases
