Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Legal Assistant role located in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill Area. The Legal Assistant will support attorneys with day-to-day tasks, including preparing and organizing legal documents, maintaining case files, and coordinating court filings. Responsibilities include managing calendars, scheduling client meetings and court appearances, and handling phone calls, emails, and correspondence with clients and external parties. The role also involves gathering and organizing case-related information, assisting with client intake and documentation, and ensuring accurate data entry into firm systems. The Legal Assistant will collaborate closely with attorneys and other staff to support efficient case management and deliver consistent, professional client service.

Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in law and legal procedures, with the ability to understand and support matters in family law, criminal defense, business law, and estate planning.
  • Proficiency in legal document preparation, including drafting, formatting, proofreading, and organizing pleadings, motions, agreements, and client correspondence.
  • Excellent communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication with clients, attorneys, court staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience with administrative assistance tasks, such as calendar management, filing systems (digital and physical), data entry, and general office support.
  • Previous experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar legal support role, with familiarity using legal practice management and document management software.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and integrity.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field or a paralegal/legal assistant certificate is preferred.
