Job description

The Haba Law Firm is a boutique law firm with offices in Central and Southwest Florida, handling cases in both state and federal courts in sexual abuse and human trafficking litigation. Our firm operates primarily in a virtual environment, leveraging technology to provide efficient and client-focused legal services.

Role Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our team that is based in Florida. This is a full-time, remote position, though occasional in-person appearances at the office or court may be required.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, tech-savvy, and capable of managing multiple administrative and legal tasks in a virtual setting. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to ensure seamless coordination between attorneys, clients, and court personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, notices, and discovery.
  • Provide administrative support, including scheduling, maintaining case files, and managing attorney calendars.
  • Handle law firm phone calls and client intake services.
  • Handle client communications professionally and in compliance with ethical rules.
  • Assist with document collection, filing, and data entry.
  • Utilize legal software, Microsoft Office, and cloud-based case management systems.
  • Perform notary services - must be a commissioned Florida Notary Public.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in legal document drafting
  • Experience in case management.
  • Experience with federal court civil litigation.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and cloud-based legal software.
  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive client information.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Notary Public certification in Florida.
