Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process legal documents, pleadings, notices, subpoenas, and other case-related materials.
  • Assist prosecutors with preparation for trials, hearings, and other court proceedings.
  • Create, organize, and maintain electronic and physical case files.
  • Enter, update, and maintain accurate information within the case management system.
  • Manage calendars and track hearings, trials, deadlines, and other case-related events.
  • Assist with the organization and processing of discovery and case materials.
  • Perform electronic filing and produce case-related documents.
  • Communicate with witnesses regarding scheduling and case-related matters.
  • Coordinate routine case information with court personnel, law enforcement agencies, and other criminal justice partners.
  • Proofread legal documents and correspondence for accuracy, completeness, grammar, and formatting.
  • Identify missing or incomplete administrative case information and bring time-sensitive matters to appropriate staff attention.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of sensitive information.

The Third Judicial District Attorney's Office is seeking a highly organized, motivated, and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our team.

Legal Assistants play an important role in keeping cases organized, deadlines on track, legal documents accurate, and attorneys prepared for court.

What You'll Do

As a Legal Assistant, you will provide legal administrative and case-management support to prosecutors and other professional staff. Responsibilities include:

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of work experience in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Three (3) years of work experience and/or education in a related field.
