Allensworth is seeking a full-time Legal Assistant for its downtown Austin office. The role supports attorneys and paralegals in a fast-paced construction-law firm environment and involves filing, document management, and client communications.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of independent decision-making while collaborating with a team. Proficiency in typical office software and strong writing skills are required.

Qualifications

  • B.A. preferred or equivalent experience; litigation experience preferred
  • Excellent writing, communication, time-management, and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail, polished demeanor, and teamwork
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe, Teams/Zoom, and time-keeping system
  • This job may include lifting items up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Prepare conflict waivers from templates as requested.
  • Prepare client engagement letters from form templates and follow-thru to client signature.
  • Open new client files.
  • Maintain client files, including set up and ongoing filing and saving electronic files to client files and folders.
  • Download local rules from court websites and save to new litigation files and build and maintain case docket sheet.
  • Process outgoing mail, including certified mail return receipt cards.
  • Locate documents saved to files when requested by attorney or paralegal.
  • Book travel for attorneys.
  • Submit invoices and receipts for payment or reimbursement.
  • Set up conference calls by Teams/Zoom or conference line.
  • Arrange and coordinate meetings.
  • Assist attorneys with CLE registrations and reporting.
  • Perform overflow work, special projects, and research on an as-needed basis.
  • Perform electronic filings with the court.

Allensworth, a busy and growing commercial construction law firm, seeks a full-time Legal Assistant in its downtown Austin office.

Summary of Responsibilities

The ideal candidate is energetic, positive, proactive, and process-driven, can take initiative and direction in a team-oriented environment, and is comfortable working at a fast-paced, busy law firm. Working in close partnership with our attorneys, paralegals, and professional staff, the Legal Assistantwill have the following key responsibilities:

  • Prepare conflict waivers from templates as requested.
  • Prepare client engagement letters from form templates and follow-thru to client signature.
  • Open new client files.

  • Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work autonomously, meet deadlines, exercise independent decision-making, handle complex issues and set priorities in a fast-paced environment. Understands when to escape issues with supervisor or other leaders in the organization.
