A well-established law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Assistant to join its litigation practice. This individual will work as part of a collaborative administrative team supporting Partners and Associate Attorneys with a wide range of litigation and administrative responsibilities.
This is a full-time, hybrid position(2 days on site) working 40 hours per week and offering a comprehensive benefits package.
Responsibilities
The Litigation Assistant will:
- Prepare, organize, index, and manage litigation-related documents, electronic court filings, evidence, and case materials.
- Assist with large and complex discovery projects.
- Maintain attorney calendars, deadlines, meetings, court dates, and other scheduling requirements.
- Draft, prepare, and review professional correspondence and legal documents.
- Review preliminary invoices and assist with billing-related activities.
- Coordinate meetings, conference calls, and travel arrangements.
- Handle incoming calls and serve as a professional point of contact for internal and external clients.
- Assist with new case intake and the organization of new matter files.
- Maintain electronic and paper filing and record-tracking systems.
- Work collaboratively with attorneys and administrative staff to provide responsive and high-quality support.
- Perform additional administrative and litigation support responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- 5+ years of legal administrative experience supporting a litigation practice, preferably within a law firm or corporate legal department.
- Strong knowledge of litigation procedures, court filings, legal terminology, protocols, and deadlines.
- An Associate Degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience.
- Experience with professional services or legal billing systems.
- Experience with document management systems and document management best practices.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Excellent calendaring, scheduling, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to support multiple attorneys and effectively prioritize competing assignments and deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- The ability to research, gather, organize, and present information from multiple sources.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A professional demeanor and the ability to interact effectively with attorneys, clients, staff, courts, and outside parties.
- The ability to exercise discretion and maintain strict attorney-client confidentiality.
Experience with ProLaw and/or eDiscovery platforms is a plus.
