Job summary

Orion Placement is seeking a detail-oriented Legal Administrative Assistant to support attorneys and clients in a busy Mobile law office. You will draft and format pleadings, manage calendars, schedule hearings, and handle document management with accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3+ years of law firm legal support experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common business applications.
  • Experience with legal case management, document management, docketing software.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level administrative and legal support to attorneys in a fast-paced law firm environment.
  • Draft, format, proofread, finalize, and distribute pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, contracts, briefs, and correspondence.
  • Maintain attorney calendars, deadlines, appointments, hearings, meetings, depositions, and travel arrangements.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, vendors, and other parties.
  • Maintain accurate case management, document management, and client relationship systems.
  • Organize case and business files so attorneys have the information they need when they need it.
  • Assist with court filings and coordinate scheduling with courts and other parties.
  • Prepare attorneys for meetings, hearings, and court appearances.
  • Track priorities and task lists to help ensure client and court deadlines are met.
  • Record attorney time accurately and assist with billing processes.
  • Provide responsive, empathetic client service by phone, email, and in person.
  • Support additional administrative projects that keep the office and legal team operating efficiently

  • Previous Legal Assistant, Legal Administrative Assistant, Legal Secretary, or similar law firm experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common business applications
  • Experience with legal case management, document management, litigation management, or docketing software
  • Strong organizational, communication, proofreading, and time-management skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accurate work
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a client-service mindset
  • Associate degree, college coursework, or additional legal education preferred
