Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and clerical support for the Legal Department, including scanning, copying, mailing, calendaring, scheduling, and file management.
  • Track legal and departmental deadlines, priorities, meetings, and events.
  • Assist with intake, triage, opening, routing, tracking, and closing of legal matters in department systems.
  • Draft routine correspondence and legal documents as assigned.
  • Conduct legal research and support internal inquiries and legal matters.
  • Review HIPAA incident reports upon receipt and close matters when appropriate; assist with risk assessments and breach documentation under supervision.
  • Support responses to subpoenas, public records requests, regulatory communications, ethics matters, and whistleblower-related matters as directed.
  • Assist with review of policies, laws, and departmental responses.
  • Support eligibility appeals, adverse actions, and other administrative legal functions as assigned.
  • Maintain contracts databases and other departmental tracking systems.
  • Assist with department software customization, templates, reports, and user support.
  • Support procurement-related tasks, including vendor requisitions and purchasing processes.
  • Open, close, organize, file, and archive paper and electronic legal records.
  • Complete special projects and other related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality of legal, personnel, and organizational information.

Position Overview

The Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities is seeking a professional, organized, and detail-orientedLegal Administrative Assistantto support the daily operations of our Legal Department. This position is responsible for a broad range of administrative, clerical, and legal support duties that help ensure the department operates efficiently, accurately, and confidentially.

Minimum Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor’s degreeorat least three years of experience in a law firm, government office, corporate legal department, or similar setting supporting legal professionals
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work with discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrated initiative in identifying inefficiencies, suggesting improvements, and helping implement approved solutions with minimal daily oversight
Preferred
  • Experience working independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Willingness to learn new systems and processes
  • Experience with CLIO strongly preferred
