Job summary

CSC Generation in Houston, TX (Hybrid) is seeking a Software Engineer to own maintenance and modernization of legacy apps across .NET, Python, JavaScript, and Java. You will build CI/CD pipelines, increase test coverage, containerize apps, and add observability to reduce production incidents.

Within six months, you will ship pipeline and testing improvements that measurably lower incidents, while operating in a lean team with end-to-end responsibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or current 4-year student).
• Experience with at least 2 of: .NET Framework, Python, JavaScript, Java.
• Experience with AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, CloudFormation, CodePipeline).
• Proficiency with Docker containerization.
• Experience with Ansible for infrastructure automation.
• Strong SQL query writing and optimization skills.
• Experience with relational DB systems (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Experience writing unit and integration tests (xUnit, NUnit, JUnit, pytest, Jest).
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Version control with Git or similar.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, debug, and enhance legacy applications written in .NET Framework, Python, JavaScript, and Java.
• Analyze and resolve production issues with minimal downtime.
• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines using AWS services, Docker, and Ansible.
• Containerize legacy applications and orchestrate deployments.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management with Ansible.
• Write and optimize SQL queries, administer relational database systems, and implement safe database migrations and schema updates.
• Develop and integrate automated unit and integration tests, increasing test coverage and establishing test automation frameworks.
• Implement logging, metrics, and tracing across legacy applications and configure monitoring and alerting systems to detect issues proactively.
