Job summary

American Red Cross seeks a Gift Planning Officer to design and implement a comprehensive gift planning program across the Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama Regions. You will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors while expanding the Legacy Society and boosting overall fundraising capacity.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least five years in major gift or gift planning fundraising; familiarity with PG Calc or Crescendo is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience is required; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of five years in major gift or gift planning fundraising with successful cultivation and soliciting experience.
• Knowledge of planned giving vehicles and fundraising principles in large organizations.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong interpersonal and negotiation abilities.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; tact and diplomacy in sensitive situations.
• Experience with Microsoft Office; familiarity with PG Calc or Crescendo desired.

Responsibilities

• Develops and manages the gift planning strategy for a portfolio of prospects in the Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama Regions.
• Grow the Legacy Society membership and steward gift donors.
• Provide technical assistance to the Regions’ development team to increase fundraising capacity.
• Plan meetings with estate planning and financial professionals to promote bequests and related vehicles.
• Report donor activity and progress toward fundraising goals.
