Job summary

Hancock Whitney in New Orleans seeks an accounting professional to review general ledger accounts, reconcile ledgers, and support monthly closing processes. You will analyze balances, research discrepancies, and communicate adjustments to the appropriate personnel.

The role requires 2+ years of accounting experience, an associates degree in accounting, and strong Excel/Office skills. You’ll train staff and assist branches with reconciliations while upholding internal controls.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or accounting certification preferred.
• 2+ years related accounting experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to establish credibility with internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Review reconciliations prepared by others within the department.
• Reconcile assigned General Ledger accounts and ensure appropriate balances.
• Analyze monthly balances and communicate adjustments to staff.
• Research stale items and resolve outstanding issues.
• Assist with period closes and review outside reconciliations as needed.
• Train personnel on General Ledger and Reconcilement duties.
• Respond to inquiries regarding policies within the Controller’s group.
