Express Employment Professionals - Cincinnati East in Harahan, LA is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to maintain accurate financial records and support general ledger management, accounts receivable, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end close activities.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, 2+ years of accounting experience, and strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and progressive experience).
• 2+ years of general accounting, AR, or general ledger experience.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) and accounting/ERP software systems.
• High attention to detail with strong analytical and discrepancy-resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• General Ledger & Month-End Close: Maintain accurate financial records by supporting general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and month-end closing procedures.
• Accounts Receivable: Oversee AR functions, customer invoicing, payment application, and account reconciliation.
• Reconciliations & Discrepancies: Prepare and audit balance sheet and bank reconciliations; investigate and resolve financial discrepancies promptly.
• Financial Reporting & Compliance: Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting activities while ensuring full compliance with accounting policies and standards.
• Process Improvement: Evaluate existing accounting procedures and assist in developing improved controls and workflows for the organization.
