Job Summary
The Department of Natural Sciences at Albany State University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in Physical Science. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate instruction, student engagement, and institutional effectiveness. This position supports the university's mission as a teaching-focused institution and requires compliance with SACSCOC faculty credentialing standards, ensuring appropriate academic preparation and qualifications for all teaching assignments.

Responsibilities
Teaching and Instruction
- Teach a minimum of 12-15 credit hours per semester in Physical Science and related STEM disciplines.
- Provide high-quality instruction using evidence-based, student-centered teaching practices.
- Teach a range of courses (lecture and/or laboratory), including introductory and service-level physical science courses.
- Utilize multiple instructional modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online delivery.
Course and Curriculum Management
- Develop and maintain syllabi that clearly articulate student learning outcomes, course objectives, and assessment strategies in alignment with departmental and institutional goals.
- Participate in student learning outcomes assessment, data collection, and continuous improvement processes consistent with SACSCOC standards.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of student performance and course materials for institutional review and accreditation purposes.
- Contribute to curriculum development and program review processes.
Student Mentorship and Advisement
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to undergraduate students.
- Support student retention, progression, and completion initiatives.
- Engage students in academic support services, experiential learning, and career readiness opportunities.
Service and Institutional Effectiveness
- Participate in departmental, college, and university committees.
- Contribute to institutional effectiveness efforts, including assessment reporting, strategic planning, and accreditation compliance.
- Support recruitment, outreach, and community engagement initiatives.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance student success and program quality.

Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Physical Science, Physics, Chemistry, Earth Science, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline (in compliance with SACSCOC faculty credentialing guidelines).
- Demonstrated potential for effective undergraduate teaching.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline.
- Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
- Experience with online and/or hybrid instruction.
- Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes and accreditation processes.
- Experience working with diverse student populations, particularly in Minority Serving Institutions.
