  • Minimum five years of professional experience in insurance, risk management, underwriting, actuarial services, employee benefits, or related fields.
  • Preferred credentials include CPCU, ARM, CRM, CFA, ASA, ACAS, FCAS, FSA or comparable.
  • Ph.D., DBA, or doctoral degree in Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, Actuarial Science, or related field.
  • More than eight years of professional experience in insurance or risk management.
  • Evidence of successful university-level teaching.
  • Experience teaching online and in-person courses.
  • Expertise in enterprise risk management, actuarial science, insurance markets, or financial risk analysis.
  • Experience building partnerships with industry organizations.

Responsibilities

Job Description The Maine Business School (AACSB Accredited) at the University of Maine seeks applicants for a teaching faculty position at the rank of Lecturer in Finance, with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2027. This will be a full-time, ongoing 10.5-month appointment, renewed annually based on satisfactory performance. The standard work year is September 1st through July 15th. Typical hiring range is $85,000 to $95,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

This position will support teaching needs in finance, with a primary emphasis on insurance, enterprise risk management, and financial risk analysis. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of educational offerings related to property and casualty insurance, life and health insurance, employee benefits, underwriting, enterprise risk management, and emerging risks affecting organizations and communities.
