About the Department of Communication

The Communication Department serves approximately 400 majors, withspecialized options in Communications Studies, MultimediaJournalism, and Public Relations - in addition to minor programs ineach of those three areas, and an interdisciplinary Spanish Mediaminor. The Department's programs prepare students for careers incommunication across the private sector, nonprofits, highereducation, and newsrooms. Additionally, the Department oversees thebasic course direction for the university's public speakingcourses. The Communication Department also houses student-run media(The Poly Post newspaper and Poly Pulse magazine) and campuschapters for the Public Relations Student Society of America(PRSSA) and the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ).
