Job summary

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in accounting or closely related field (Ph.D. or DBA strongly preferred) and/or CPA licensure, in addition to a bachelor’s degree.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting information systems, internal controls, and business processes; familiarity with ERP systems, data analytics tools, and current accounting technologies.
  • Experience teaching at the graduate level or relevant professional training experience.
  • Preferred: Evidence of excellence in teaching, especially in an online environment.

Job description

Lecturer – Accounting for Information Systems

Part‑time position (Graduate‑level instructor) starting fall 2026. The appointment may extend beyond one term.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will deliver a rigorous, practice‑oriented course designed to develop students' competencies in supporting accounting information users and contributing to the design, implementation, and evaluation of accounting information systems. Duties include:

  • Modify and adapt the existing syllabus, vet the textbook, and record lecture videos.
  • Design assessments and organize the course within Canvas, Rutgers' Learning Management System.
  • Develop and deliver course materials aligned with program learning outcomes and CPA competencies, incorporating real‑world applications, case studies, and emerging technologies.
  • Assess student learning, provide timely feedback, and comply with grade submission policies and deadlines.

Course content covers:

  • Organizational activities, processes, and transaction cycles
  • Information needs of stakeholders (management, investors, regulators, auditors)
  • Infrastructure supporting the production and delivery of accounting outputs
  • Internal controls, data governance, and risk assessment
  • Systems documentation techniques and business process modeling
  • Integration of accounting systems within enterprise‑wide systems
