Job summary

The Nutley Board of Education seeks a Leave Replacement Elementary General Music Teacher to uphold a comprehensive K-5 music program. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
• NJ State Certification as Music Teacher or as required for position.
• Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.

Responsibilities

• Develops and administers school music curriculum consistent with district goals and objectives.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences for music instruction.
• Conducts ongoing assessment of student skills and learning in music and modifies methods to fit individual needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
• Organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and working time.
• Instructs pupils in proper care and use of musical instruments and equipment used in music classes.
• Evaluates pupil performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understandings; prepares progress reports.
• Maintains accurate records and communicates with parents about pupil progress.
• Organizes and conducts school concerts with students and coordinates with staff for events.
