This position is responsible for collecting New Lease Intake Forms and supporting documentation, reviewing submissions for completeness and accuracy, entering lease information into LeaseQuery, preparing and posting lease-related journal entries, and reconciling LeaseQuery balances to the general ledger. The Accountant II - Lease works closely with operating departments and Accounting to ensure leases are recorded accurately and in accordance with Company accounting policies and ASC 842.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Strong working knowledge of accounting principles and practices, general-ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. Ability to analyze financial information, identify discrepancies, investigate variances, and resolve issues using sound judgment. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing with employees, operating departments, and other stakeholders. Ability to work in a Native Corporation multi-business environment. Strong computer skills and the ability to learn and effectively use Company-specific accounting and financial systems. Ability to read and interpret documents such as lease agreements, amendments, accounting policies, procedures, and other procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion when handling accounting information, lease transactions, and confidential business matters. Ability to effectively plan, organize, and prioritize multiple responsibilities while meeting established deadlines and month-end close requirements. Strong organizational and document-management skills, including the ability to maintain accurate, complete, and well-organized lease records and supporting documentation. Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail when reviewing lease agreements, entering financial data, preparing journal entries, and performing reconciliations. Strong follow-through and accountability, with the ability to track assignments, reconciling items, and outstanding issues through resolution. Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and meet established month-end close deadlines.
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field. (May be substituted for minimum of three years of direct relevant experience in accounting, finance, lease administration, or a related field.) Three (3) years of accounting experience, preferably including general-ledger accounting, account reconciliations, journal entries, or month-end close. Working knowledge of lease-accounting principles and ASC 842 preferred. Knowledge of lease-accounting processes, including lease classification, measurement, modifications, renewals, and terminations preferred. Experience with LeaseQuery or another lease accounting system preferred. Experience with accounting for operating and finance leases preferred. Experience with Costpoint preferred. CPA or CPA-eligible status preferred. Ability to pass a drug, background, and credit check.
