Job summary

Unity College in Maine is seeking a Learning Technology Support Specialist to maintain Distance Education learning technologies, prepare courses between terms, repair courses, and fix issues as they run.

You will gather UX data, work with Advising, IT, and instructors to inform long‑term improvements, and support Canvas LMS and related tools, developing tutorials and workshops. A commitment to the college's environmental mission is essential.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree required.
• Strong empathy and UX analysis skills.
• Strong qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Excellent oral and written communication; interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to stay current with rapidly changing technologies.
• Ability to work with diverse student backgrounds.
• Experience with Content Management Systems and media technologies.
• Commitment to the environmental focus and mission.

Responsibilities

• Support publication, standardization, and maintenance of existing courses.
• Tier 1 support for learning technology issues, including LMS.
• Maintain LMS and adjacent learning technologies.
• Respond to and fix issues with courses and third‑party integrations.
• Interface with Advising, IT and other units to improve response to user issues.
• Develop methodologies for collecting and analyzing UX data.
• Apply user data to generate reports and inform iterative improvements to the User Experience.
• Act as an expert resource for Canvas LMS and related tools.
• Support and refine integrations of current educational technologies.
• Develop tutorials, orientations, help sessions, and workshops as needed.
• Communicate knowledge and application of academic technologies.
• Remain current with latest industry technology tools and trends in online education.
• Work with IT and Instructional Technology staff to develop new services and test new technologies.
