Job summary

Placements24 is assisting a Queenstown-based school in Eastern Cape to hire a Learning Support Teacher. The role focuses on delivering targeted academic assistance, identifying student needs, and developing individualized plans within an inclusive classroom.

The successful candidate will have a background in learning support or special education, strong assessment skills, and the ability to collaborate with parents and staff to improve student outcomes. On-site full-time position in Queenstown.

Qualifications

• Qualified teacher with certification in learning support or special education.
• Minimum 3 years teaching experience, with at least 2 years in learning support.
• Strong diagnostic, assessment, and analytical skills.
• Familiar with the South African curriculum framework.

Responsibilities

• Identify students needing learning support through assessments and collaboration with teachers.
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or similar plans.
• Provide direct, one-on-one or small-group instruction to diverse learners.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt curriculum and teaching strategies.
• Monitor progress and adjust support strategies accordingly.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about progress and plans.
• Maintain confidential records of assessments and progress.
• Liaise with external professionals when necessary.
