Compensation Type: Hourly

Compensation: $18.00

Job Summary

The Learning Support Specialist II (LSS II) performs the duties of a professional tutor, working in‑person with students one‑on‑one or in small groups to help them attain a deeper understanding of assigned subject matter. The LSS II collaborates with other tutors and the department to support student learning and generates tutoring reports.

Responsibilities
  • Provide tutoring for introductory courses in the discipline of expertise.
  • Communicate with students, faculty, and the department regarding individual student progress and needs.
  • Generate and submit reports from tutoring software to supervisor.
  • Maintain documentation of all tutoring sessions and tutoring interactions.
  • Offer support to LSS, LSS I, Peer Tutors, and Supplemental Instructional Leaders.
  • Assist with technical support of tutoring software and reports.
  • Attend tutor training sessions and maintain knowledge of course material and instructional methodologies.
Administrative/Clerical Functions
  • Generate department reports for tutoring and maintain documentation of tutoring interactions.
  • Provide course instructor(s) with communication/information to facilitate student learning of course content.
Continuous Learning & Mentoring
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the course material and multiple instructional methodologies.
  • Attend tutor training sessions and provide support to other tutors and instructional leaders.
  • Assist with technical support of tutoring software and report generation.
Culture of Respect
  • Foster and maintain a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty, staff, students, and community members.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in a related field.
  • One (1) year of teaching and/or tutoring experience in an educational environment (desired).
  • State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work sites.
Additional Information
  • Job Type: Part‑time (20 hours per week).
  • Professional licenses and certifications may be required depending on the discipline.
  • Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check and/or MVR check and a 10‑panel drug screen during the pre‑employment process.
