Job summary

Cengage Group in Kentucky, USA is seeking a Portfolio Manager on the Milady Content and Learning Team to lead the portfolio development and content strategy across beauty education programs. You will analyze markets, test ideas, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and drive on‑time delivery of high‑quality learning experiences for learners and instructors.

You will build business cases, manage budgets, and translate priorities into end‑to‑end plans while maintaining strong relationships

Qualifications

Ability to develop strategies and compelling business cases.

Ability to clearly articulate vision and strategy and help team members understand how their work impacts business success.
Customer focus; understanding of how customer needs translate into opportunities.
Demonstration of strong communication skills with facilitation of meetings, focus groups, and interviews.

Ability to inspire change through influence; interpersonal skills.
Self-discipline with accountability.
Strong financial analysis and modeling skills and an understanding of business metrics.
Natural curiosity and willingness to learn with a drive for continuous improvement.
Proven written and verbal abilities for presenting information to senior audiences.
BA or BS Degree.
Minimum 5 years in portfolio/product management, product development, sales, marketing, or related role.
Expected travel ~20% of time.
Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Responsibilities

Lead a profitable line of content offerings and develop strategic business plans.
Provide leadership, representing the portfolio and customers across audiences.
Use data to make market-informed business proposals, take mitigated risks, and guide strategic decisions.
Develops deep market mastery to identify trends, customer needs and competitive landscape.
Translate priorities into organized end-to-end development plans with budgets, resources, goals, and checkpoints.
Provide project team direction and ensure timely delivery within scope and budget.
Cultivate an environment of creativity and collaboration.
Deliver quality learning experiences to students and instructors.
Establish relationships with authors, content creators, and adoption decision makers for insights and adoptions.
Develop understanding of competitors and anticipate activity.
Identify and test portfolio content ideas via focus groups, advisory boards and reviews.
Regularly analyze portfolio plans to align forecasting and progress metrics.
Partner with Marketing and Sales to seed and secure adoptions.
Collaborate with Learning Design, Content Production, Marketing, Sales, and Product Tech teams.
Create needs-based discipline, course, and content positioning for campaigns and sales enablement.
Make presentations at internal/external meetings, campus visits, and academic conventions to drive sales.
